Q. My husband and I recently moved from Michigan, where students did not have to take the state standardized test if their parents didn't want them to. I'm wondering if this is an option in Florida as well with the FCAT.
A. I've heard of parents that keep their kids out of school during the FCAT/NRT testing period and the make ups. I don't think it works in 3rd grade because of the mandatory retention. Other grades you may be able to get away with it. You can't opt out though
